POWERbreathe® Expiratory Muscle Training /Wellness

Expiratory Muscle Trainer

This is not the device used in the University of Colorado study or other studies. That device is the Powerbreathe IMT. This is a non returnable product, Please check you are ordering the correct device.

The POWERbreathe EX1-Wellness is an Expiratory Muscle Training (EMT) device that is drug-free and easy to use. It exercises the expiratory muscles to enhance expiratory muscle structure and function and improve expiratory muscle strength and endurance.

Based on POWERbreathe pre-launch feedback from clinical researchers and early adopters in medical and healthcare, the POWERbreathe EX1 Wellness is being used by people with compromised breathing, thanks to:

  • Pressure threshold loading – ensures training intensity is quantifiable, adjustable and appropriate.
  • Ease of adjustment – the scale on the handle indicates the training level set.
  • Ergonomic design – based on our established POWERbreathe Wellness Plus IMT device, the EX1 is designed to be easy to hold without obstructing air output and comfortable to use.
  • Full disassembly – ensures thorough cleaning.

The POWERbreathe EX1 uses the ‘pressure threshold’ method of breathing training, which is like weightlifting. You progressively adjust the ‘weight’ lifted to make your training harder (or easier) as your expiratory muscles become stronger.

The typical training protocol for expiratory muscle training is 25 breaths, made up of  5 x exhales, 5 times a day (for 5 days a week) = 5 x 5 x 5.
